Learning Math with Makey Makey

Often times the cost of materials impede upon a teacher's ability to try new hands-on activities. However, I have learned that simple objects around our homes can repurposed to meet students' learning needs in new, unique, and creative ways. After rumaging around my parent's basement, I used pieces from board games, coins, and a Makey Makey kit (a circuit board) to create a new math game for students to learn transformations of functions.

The fact that I was able to use existing technologies to improve my current learning and teaching practices demonstrates that I am growing as a technology integrator. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone and now see the potential in utilizing these tools. All it takes is vision and imagination for any learner (or teacher) to become a maker.
