About Me

Personal Background:

Hello! My name is Alissa Arden and I am from Farmington Hills, MI. Growing up, I actively danced, figure skated, and skied. I continue to ski but only manage to dance and figure skate occasionally for fun. I like to keep active with trying various new exercises such as Pilates, Zumba, and kickboxing. Additionally, I am a huge movie buff and enjoy viewing and critiquing films whenever possible.

During vacation times, I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to visit 12 different countries and even live in Dublin, Ireland for a summer where I studied Irish film, history, and culture at Trinity College. I am a lifelong learner who enjoys discovering new activities, concepts, and places.

Educational and Professional Background:

In 2011 I graduated from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) with a Bachelor of Art's degree in Secondary Education with certifications in English, mathematics, and psychology. In 2016 I graduated from Michigan State University with a Master of Art's degree and certificate in Educational Technology. During my time in this program, I was invited to join, and became a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.  While I hold degrees from both universities, I still bleed maize and blue.

Immediately following my graduation from the University of Michigan, I was hired as a math and English teacher at L'Anse Creuse High School-North in Macomb, MI. I have enjoyed every minute working with the wonderful staff and students there for the past five years and have sponsored LCN's Mu Alpha Theta national honor society chapter for three of those years. My other claim to fame is using my dance experience to choreograph the staff dance at the homecoming pep assembly each year.
