I am writing to apply for a position as a secondary mathematics teacher in your district for the upcoming school year. As you can determine from my resume, through my five years teaching in L’anse Creuse Public Schools, student teaching, and volunteer work, I gained experience working with students with different backgrounds, cultures, and grade levels within L’anse Creuse Public Schools and Ann Arbor Public Schools. I appreciate the similar diversity and diverse student needs within your district and hope to become part of your collaborative school community. I am a proud alumnus of North Farmington High School and went on to graduate from the University of Michigan, bringing along with me the academic skills and drive I developed during my high school experience. I am eager to continue my career in a district near my home community and help maintain the standards your district expects from its educators.
My main goal as a teacher is to engage and motivate my students, as I believe this is critical for a student’s success. As you will see from my recommendation letters, I strive to design unique and creative lesson plans that will appeal to various learners and encourage self-motivated learning. Each lesson influences my planning for the next day, as I adapt to student needs to ensure understanding and maintain student interest. Through earning my Master’s in Educational Technology through Michigan State University, I learned how to incorporate technology into the classroom to better engage students and promote understanding. Perhaps my greatest strengths are the enthusiasm and compassion I bring to the classroom, and the availability I afford my students for academic support both inside and outside the walls of the classroom in an effort to forge home-school connections.
